Every finding comes with its evidence.

Finance sees an opaque cost. Engineering sees a working solution. Overcast gives them one truth.

Overcast is our FinOps platform. It reads the cost and usage history your cloud already keeps, prices the waste, and shows the evidence behind every number. It applies a rule set to your cost and usage data and returns findings; each finding names the resource, the rule that fired, a confidence level and the effort to act on it.

What it gives you

The big picture first, then the evidence, then the work

The big picture

A total you can reconcile against the invoice

Overcast reads the cost and usage history your cloud already keeps and prices the waste in it. It gives three totals, optimistic, expected and risk-adjusted, and we quote the risk-adjusted one: the number that holds up against the invoice.

Overcast, identified savings: the risk-adjusted total, split by confidence. Figure from a customer estate.

The evidence

Every finding with its evidence

Each finding also states the assumption behind its estimate. You accept or dismiss it, and Overcast tracks what lands: open, accepted, banked.

Azure Advisor lists recommendations and a dashboard shows spend. Neither tells you what is safe to cut or what it is worth. Overcast does.

Carrying it out

The easiest savings first, and a record of what is done

Every finding carries its effort and its confidence, so you can take the easiest first. The levers add up from today's run-rate to the optimised one, and Overcast keeps the record: what you have dismissed, what you have accepted, and what is left to do.

Overcast, from today's run-rate to the optimised one: each bar is one lever, every finding counted. Figures from a test environment.

What it finds

The common kinds of waste, found by rule

Overcast's rules look for the waste most estates carry: resources that are oversized, idle or unused, services on the wrong tier, and commitments you are not making. SaaS and Kubernetes cost are covered alongside the cloud bill. It works out of the box by service, and reports by team and product once you attribute cost from your own tags.

Each rule is specific enough to act on, and Overcast lists them by what they are worth. Even a modest test environment often hides real savings, as the list below shows. It comes from a small, simple test environment, not a full estate.

Privacy and data residency

We care about where your data lives

Cost data says more than it seems. It names your systems, your suppliers and your volumes, and it shows how your estate is built. SaaS vendors typically copy that data into their own platform, wherever it happens to be hosted.

We keep your data in a jurisdiction you approve, and we do not move it out of it. If your requirements go further than that, for example keeping the data inside your own estate, raise it early and we will look at it with you.

Whichever vendor you choose, ask two questions: where does my data end up, and under whose law?

How you get it

Three ways to get Overcast

  • Inside a cloud cost optimisation projectour engineers act on what it finds
  • On its ownas a subscription service
  • With a cloud service provider subscriptionbundled with it

The free assessment runs it across your estate either way.
